I seldom cannot finish a history book. But it is one of them coz I can't really stand the bad and poor political system in Ming Dynasty ...
not a bit disappointed even though i carried very high expectation when flipping the first page. just don't expect a traditional history book - this is a critic of history in fact.
it is ok, but I think I can write on economics and other perspective better than him.
As KamYung commented. Huang is only an early chinese to write in western world on chinese history in this western style, thus getting big fame. In fact most westerners write this way ,long before him. And his fundamental is not as good as many chinese historians. And I do not think his viewpoint on economics or human geography reflect a good fundamental knowledge in this aspects
