i re-read the winner, after many years. Since then, I have kept reading baldacci on and off. There is no doubt that his early work was bustling with very original ideas and genius plots. Since then, his novels are fast paced and generally good, but lack the out of the box ideas. The winner is a case in point: the basic idea is fascinating and highly original, and the story is gripping. A page turner you cannot put down, even the second time around.
...ContinuaThis one really grabbed me - fast-paced, lots of action. It's a rather unusual story about a poverty-stricken woman who is offered the chance to win a "fixed" lottery - an offer she can't really refuse. But will it solve all her problems, or only create new ones? Lots of suspense.
